“American History” Experience with Discrimination

I was at the gym watching the girl’s basketball game with some friends and I was offensively discriminated against being a foster kid. We were just sitting in the back of the bleachers and we were having a good time. During the third quarter of the basketball game one of the girls swatted the ball from the other team, that girl fell to the floor knocking down the referee with her. I stared to laugh a little but I wasn’t being rude or anything. There was an old lady sitting a few seats away from us and she came up to us and start to say that we have no manners and that we are the way we are because we are foster kids. This experience made me feel bad for the old lady because she was being stereotypical and people shouldn’t judge as belonging to a group instead of each person being there own person.

“The Skull and the Arrow” Content Paragraph: In the Cave

So I see this cave in the distance and I have been beaten badly, and nearly died. Then I see a big dark cave in the night when it’s raining. I don’t think twice about going in the cave. When I walked inside it was bigger than it seemed. I was looking around the cave and it was rocky, it was oddly shaped so the rain couldn’t get through. I have to wait until the rain clears up and decide my next move. Then I'm thinking about if there is a road or camp ground nearby. All of this will just have to wait until it has stopped raining.

Symbolism in “The Skull and the Arrow” Underdog Paragraph

There are several things that motivates underdogs to perform at their best. The highest motivation for underdogs to win is to have something to prove to those that have labeled them underdogs. The underdog feels that they have to show absolutely everyone that they are someone to not take lightly. Another thing that motivates the underdog to win is that they have nothing to lose, which  means that they take a lot  more risks. Lastly, sometimes being the underdog can mean that they have other talents to show. A sports player may not be a good player, but may be a good referee or coach.

"The Grandfather" Content Paragraph: My Tree

Like the narrator in “The Grandfather” by Gary Soto, I try to keep myself close to my house parents. I consider my house parents to be my family. These people are like my family because I trust them as if they were my real parents. Also, I have a good relationship with them. They just care a lot for me and for my housemates. They give me strength by supporting me. An example of a time when I depended on them was when ever I was having a bad time they would help me by talking to me. A tree symbolizes family because both a family and a tree will leave something of themselves behind.

: “The Grandfather” Before Important Person

Someone who means a lot to me wold be my mom. I am extremely close with her. My mom is also really funny, shes my best friend. My moms not like other mom's shes one that I can tell everything to. Which I think is kind of rare. Shes important to me because, shes the one who brought me into this world. How could she not be important. Also she did a lot of things that helped me get through my life. In other words she gave me important lessons. My current relationship with my mom isn't all that great I don't see her as much as I used to. Occasionally, I would see her when I'm on pass. I  still talk to her on the phone, and I try to tell her things that go on so that she can help me out.

Comment-Seeking Post

Lately there has been a lot of drama due to the news kids in my house. I’m never really at home most of the time. So when I come home there’s the typical arguing about he said she said type of crap, which I think is ridiculous. I used to think of myself as a bad kid, but now I’m more relaxed and clam, it’s probably because I got used to this place. Other than that, I’m really happy and somewhat proud of myself because when I first got here I was a little brat. I didn’t want to listen to anyone. From time to I notice myself getting older and maturing. I see things in a bigger picture; also I’m not always trying to argue with everyone. I guess you can say that I finally figured out who I am. I’m not saying that im one of the greatest kids because I know I’m not. Just like everyone else I have my days, either way I have changes a lot for myself and now I’m swollen with pride!

Free Choice Blog Post.

I had the greatest day today. On my way to court Jen (the staff) and I were talking about my "husband" Kid Cudi♥. I was talking to her about how I really really want to see him live at Nokia Theater in Los Angeles on June 20. She was telling me that I should tell my social worker about going. Later that day Jen saw my social worker while I was at school and told her about this amazing concert. I was expecting her to say no because she is really strict like that. Luckily, she said YES as long as I have a staff that is willing to go and watch over me. Also, I have to somehow raise half of the money, which is easy. I’m so excited because I grew up in downtown LA and it just makes feel so great because I get to be in my hometown and I get to see my husband!

Fourth Quarter Kickoff Reflection.

I did not attend the Fourth Quarter Kickoff, because I felt as if it was a big waste of time. Therefore I'll talk about how a quote has affected the way I think about getting even with someone. “An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind.”-Gandhi. Hearing this I didn’t care that much about what it meant. I was focus on being right because I thought I was. Afterwords, I was thinking about what it was supposed to mean. Basically, it means that you shouldn't get somebody back for something they did wrong to you because in the long run, everyone is going suffer. I figured out that just forgiving is the only I can get even.

Fourth Quarter Goals

My greatest accomplishment from last quarter was to at least get a C. I know that a sound like it’s not a big deal but, in order to achieve this goal I had to take baby steps. You have to learn how to crawl before you walk. I had an F in Ms. Priester’s class so to get a D I had to turn in some assignments. Hopefully this quarter I get an A or at least a B. First, I have to pay attention; because if I don’t then how will I know what my assignments are about. Second I have to turn in the assignment to get credit for doing it. Lastly, I have to go over it to see if I did it right, if not then I will have to waste time by doing it over again.

Inspirational Rhyming Poem.

A few Halloweens ago
I went out trick or treating
With my best friend Joe
The doorbell was repeating

I was coming in hoping to ignore.
I was ready to go to sleep
My parents were wating at the door
I creep.

They began to yell
I tried to go to my room
and it was hell
there was a big boom.

Free Choice Blog Post

Someone really important to me Chelsea<3. Chelsea is one of the greatest friends I could ever have. Honestly, I think I'm extremely lucky to have a great friend like her. Recently, she’s the only person I have been talking to about my problems. She’s one of those people who don't back stab you or like to ruin your life, like some people I know. She’s one of the few people that understand me. She's just great she’s someone you can get along with she’s funny and she’s just beautiful inside and outside. Chelsea is thee most important person in my life and I love her! She’s a true friend. I could never imagine what my life would be without her.

“A Blessing” Break into Blossom Paragraph

A time when I broke into blossom was when I heard my cousin was going to get married. I was at school waiting for my cousin's girlfriend to pick me up from school. She shows up with a big smile on her face. Also it was raining, when I touched the handle to open the door my hand was soaking wet. The first thing I see is a huge engagement ring. She says to me "Griselda your cousin proposed to me." I felt so happy for her. The wedding was in Acapulco, Mexico on the beach. It was such a beautiful wedding. This experienced changed me because I am so used to being with my cousin and now we have a new member in the family which is great.

"Third Quarter Goals Reflection."

One of my goals for this quarter is to get at least to get a 3.0 or higher. I have gotten above a 3.0 before by just doing my homework and turning in my assignments. Therefore it's pretty easy just to turn in assignments.  To achieve this goal I have been turning in everything Ms. Priester has been giving me.  I am doing very well this quarter. Last quarter my grades were horrible, for me do bring my grades up like that is very exciting to me. It feels good to turn in my homework.  Right now I’m pretty happy about my grade and at the end of the quarter I should still have that good grade.

"Third Quarter Goals."

An accomplishment I had from 2010 was that I had above a 3.0 G.P.A. I was playing volleyball in the beginning of year so I did my homework to play. You had to have a 3.0 to play, and I really wanted to play. Last years in eighth grade I had horrible grades. It was really easy just to do my homework and pay attention.

Three goals that I have for 2011 are to get at least a 3.5. Another thing is to turn in all my missing assignments. Also, try not to quit a sport.

One goal I have is to get at least a 3.5
• My house parents are doing everything they can to help me a 3.5

Another goal I have is to turn in all my missing assignments.
• I have to work twice as hard so that I can get off two hour.

Finally, I have to try not to quit a sport.
• I have to try stay committed to my team
