"The Storyteller" Before You Read: Memorable Books from My Childhood

  1. Rainbow Fish by  Marcus Pfister
  2. No David No by David Shannon
  3. Miss Viola Swamp by  Harry Allard and James Marshall.
  4. The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle
  5. If You Give A Mouse a Cookie by by Felicia Bond.

In the story Rainbow Fish by Marcus Pfister is basically about a very pretty fish that is different because he has silver scales all over his body. All the other fish were very jealous of his beautiful scales. Rainbow fish didn’t want to share so the fish get mad. Later on an octopus gives him some advice like if he gives a scale to the other fishes then he will realize how to happy. So he does and he keeps on scales but one. So in the end he notices that he is not so beautiful then he was before, but ever since he shared he has new friends and is the happiest fish in the sea.

First Person Narrator: House Parent/Lead Staff Point of View

As I walked into the house today, on this beautiful day, I thought that the young ladies in the house need to learn some etiquette. Then, I realized that I try my best to correct them when they curse or when they are disrespectful. But since they are kids, whatever you do to help them out and be more courteous, it won’t work because at the end of the day anything you say to them comes in one ear and out the other. Then again, they are just kids so they do what they want to do. Later I noticed that they are cool kids and I don’t blame them for knowing these things. I know that they all have been dragged all over the place and I get that. So, as I went off shift, I felt like the girls are pleasant to have around.

    San Diego County Third-Person Paragraph

Malcolm X was born Malcolm Little. By the time he was thirteen his father had died and mother was in a metal hospital. Growing up he lived in many foster homes. He was involved in criminal activities in Boston and New York. He was also, involved in the civil rights movement in the 60’s, the MLK movement. Even though he didn’t have his dad around for much of his life he was somehow influenced by him. He was proud to be black and proud of his roots. In prison he joined the Nation of Islam, 1952, after parole, and then became one of the leaders. He died young, 39. Malcolm was assassinated by a member of the Nation of Islam. Why, because he wasn’t “radical enough,” to start a war against the whites. He was basically about wanting rights for African Americans. People didn’t really agree with what he had to say, but we are all human, and he had the right to speak out.
