Inspirational Rhyming Poem.

A few Halloweens ago
I went out trick or treating
With my best friend Joe
The doorbell was repeating

I was coming in hoping to ignore.
I was ready to go to sleep
My parents were wating at the door
I creep.

They began to yell
I tried to go to my room
and it was hell
there was a big boom.

"The Base Stealer" and "The American Hero" Paragraph.

I think that the character in the story was thinking about psyching the pitcher out. For example, “How he teeters, skitters, tingles, teases,” means that he is trying to disguise what he wants to do.  Also, “Poised between goings on and back, pulled both ways taut like a tight-rope walker,” means that he’s turned sideways ready to go back to the base or to steal. Now he’s playing with the pitchers head by “Taunts them, hovers like an ecstatic bird.” In the end he steals the next base. “Delicate, delicate, delicate, delicate - Now!” means that has seen the pitcher make his move and the runner has made their decision to go.

Similes + Metaphors + Personification = Figurative Language

Metaphors:
Love is a lemon - either bitter or sweet.
Hate is a blindfold put on by people who lack the courage to love.
Life is like a box of chocolates you never what you’re going to get.
Friendship is a phone, you can survive without it.

Similes:

Community meetings are like going to the doctor, boring.
Passes are like great!
The gym is as big as a boat.
Your house smells as if someone died.

Personification:
The moon winked at me through the clouds above.
The bees played hide and seek with the flowers as they buzzed from one to another.
The phone awakened with a mighty ring.
The car was suffering and was in need of some TLC.

Free Choice Blog Post

Someone really important to me Chelsea<3. Chelsea is one of the greatest friends I could ever have. Honestly, I think I'm extremely lucky to have a great friend like her. Recently, she’s the only person I have been talking to about my problems. She’s one of those people who don't back stab you or like to ruin your life, like some people I know. She’s one of the few people that understand me. She's just great she’s someone you can get along with she’s funny and she’s just beautiful inside and outside. Chelsea is thee most important person in my life and I love her! She’s a true friend. I could never imagine what my life would be without her.

"Fog, Fire and Ice" Paragraph.

The animal in the poem “Fog” is a cat. I think the cat was chosen by the author because its sneaky and stealthy. If I was the author I would have chosen a snake because like the cat its sneaky. Also, I think snakes are probably thee most sneakiest animal. Snakes are just naturally slick because you can hardly hear them, unless its a rattle snake. Another thing is that cats can be sneaky when they want to but snakes are always stealthy. I chose this animal because it fits more with the snake than a cat.

The world is going to end with fire. The world is going to end like this because the NASA scientist say that in 2013 the Earth is going to get hit by a huge asteroid the size of Texas. Also, asteroids are pure fire. If  we were supposed to die in ice then the scientist would already be talking about it. If this does happen, hopefully it doesn't but, I will be a helpless sophomore praying and trying not to die. Honestly, I think that the world isn’t going to end after all.

"Country Scene" Paragraph.

The author is trying to tell us that a lot of things will ultimately fade away but nothing is going to last forever. "The emerald shadows of the ancient canopy." Meaning that, a canopy will eventually break also, it won’t last a long time. "A bell is tolling, fading, fading just like love." Means that love doesn’t last and will soon fade out. Based on what the author wrote I think he is trying to show us that a lot of things in this world won’t last a long time, just like love and the canopy.

“A Blessing” Break into Blossom Paragraph

A time when I broke into blossom was when I heard my cousin was going to get married. I was at school waiting for my cousin's girlfriend to pick me up from school. She shows up with a big smile on her face. Also it was raining, when I touched the handle to open the door my hand was soaking wet. The first thing I see is a huge engagement ring. She says to me "Griselda your cousin proposed to me." I felt so happy for her. The wedding was in Acapulco, Mexico on the beach. It was such a beautiful wedding. This experienced changed me because I am so used to being with my cousin and now we have a new member in the family which is great.

Paragraph to Persuade You to Read My Poem

The name of our poem is "Woman Work" by Maya Angelou. People should read this poem because it talks about things you can relate to. For example she talks about doing chores and how she loves to do it. I can relate to this beaucause I also do chores, but I dont like to do them. Some people might not want to read it because they think its boring and not a lot of people would want to read a poem about doing chores. In my opinion I think they should because its nice to learn about other things. The best part of this poem is the way she compares things like, "I've got the children to tend, the clothes to mend, the floor to mop, the the food to shop..."

Poetry Experience Paragraph.

The mood that our poem creates is happiness.  “Wonderful World” by Eva Grant is the name.  The poem has examples of imagery which are seeing, hearing, touching, tasting, and smelling.  The author explains the feelings by saying she likes nature. Also she just talks about being happy.  When I read this poem it makes me feel happy. Imagery helps express feelings in this poem by making it easier to see what she is talking about.
